Dereham Baptist Church
Hi,
Please could people review my website, and comment on it. Especially, does it seem as 'cheesy' to you, as Church websites often may do.

Thanks in advance
David
P.S. Yes, Mods. I've been a good little poster and reviewed 6 or 7 other sites before I posted this one.

Well since I'm an old down home Baptist I'll go first. The page is very clean, I like the color scheme somewhat conservative, but isn't that Baptist?. The layout is also traditional with web design these days, not what I would choose, but I am a non-traditionalist.
One negative: you have the jaggies in your header text gif. This is caused by bold italics, change to regular text and it will cure it.
I forgot to mention the splash page, same problem including the cross; a gif image here instead of a jpg might cure this problem

Might redo the splash page image totally - it is looking a bit dated (I did it almost a year and half ago). I'll have a look over my holiday!
Thanks so far

Hello, David
Once I enter your site (past the splash page) I notice that things seem to be a bit unaligned. I would like to suggest you center the logo. In addition, the text under the logo would be more appropriate as a footer. Next, the alignment of the text in the main body of your site isn't consistent. Some pages are centered while others are left aligned. I would stick with having it left aligned since your menu is centered.
As for the site's colors, the purple I like but the "sky blue" color doesn't really appeal to me. I also notice more inconsistencies. Your text is colored different on various pages. I would keep these text colors the same.
Your site is informative and from it I understand what your church is about. IMOP Just try to keep the elements on your site consistent. Hope this helps you out David.
Regards,
James

I have decided to redesign the whole lot again in a similar style but with XHTML 1.0 and CSS, no tables. Therefore, I will touch up some of these issues. Any further critique will be invaluable in this process, and you don't know how much I value it. I'm also attempting to intergrate some of my new PHP skills.

Yes the Splash Page is out (like mine as commented)
If youre worried with the mutilinggual link, incorporate it inside the page...
Yes I suggest you redo the table scheme, texts get cut out.
Yes the sky blue is too light for the background...
I think other than that your site is informative...
Hope ive helped...
