Hey, just looking for any comments, and if you guys could check it in different browsers, that would be awesome. I'm specifically looking for IE 5 and 5.5

I know the classes page is messy, but I Don't have official copy yet, so I need to know exactly what goes there before It'll get any better.

I'm pretty psycehd that it's my first site for pay. Yay me.

To be honest, it doesn't look very corporate or commercial. I don't like the banner at all... it's akward with all the black space. I also think you kind find a better color than purple for the content area - if not, change the orange. I'm thinking a dark/yellowish green would work well.

The idea is good - content arranged nice and simple - easy to navigate - would like to see pictures of the dance teachers with their write-up.

As for the colours:eek: Have a look at this site for ideas of colour schemes Laughing out loud

The Colors are tough. Despite my efforts, I guess I just didn't rock purple and yellow as much as I would have liked. I'm glad that you say it doesn't look corporate, as the studio is very fun, as are the teachers and this is the attitude the owner would like to reflect. Pictures and finalized content will come. That's why there's space on right right of the teacher page.

Will look forward to seeing the finished site - still not convinced on purple and orange though - there are other fun colours that wouldn't clash quite so much

They're the colors of the business. I personally don't see much of an issue with the purple. I think the yellow is doing funky things on different monitors, so I'm trying out some different shades. Maybe something almost peachy.

Like the general layout of the site - but, again, the colours really don't do anything for me.
The yellow isn't that bad, and I'm thinking maybe a slightly darker shade for the background outside the white box so it's not all the same colour.
I thought the "black mass" at the top of the page was due to my highly irritating Norton AntiWebmaster, but it seems it's meant to be there. I would have a really beautiful photo there, fitting in with the chosen colour scheme, naturally.
The white is particularly hard to read against the yellow, and the purple at the bottom of the page just seems out of place.
You definitely need to think about the colour scheme again, and it's not impossible to have fun colours that aren't garish and difficult, but it's not the easiest thing in the world getting the balance right.

Good luck with the site!

What white on yellow?

I really don't mind the black text on the yellow, but the high contrast between the purple and the black text might induce squinting or headaches down the line. Same with the white text on black background.

Layout wise I think its just fine, it's simple, top to bottom.

I generally like the design, this is definately reflecting the purpose of the business and the feeling of the place. It's fun, but not daft. Very good. Smiling

Am liking the navigation along the top, although I keep wanting to click those images! If you made them links you could put a very subtle effect on them: maybe with white glows on all the images, switching to yellow on a mouse-over.

Also glad to see that you used the correct quotation characters (well for American English anyway Smiling ), am a little unsure about the text colours: agreed with PopeCuervoLime on that. You have attempted to make it more readable by increasing the letter-spacing; it does help, but isn't very attractive in my opinion.

It's a good job now, and will be even better when you get some more content in. Would be good to have some photos of the teachers, the building and facilities too. Expect you're already working on that though. Smiling

Overall: nice work. Think you're ready for the big-time. Wink

Thanks for the comments everyone. The backgrounds been bugging me for a while, and I've heard lots about the clashes, so I've got a new background image. Only thing changed so far, but I think it makes a big difference. I like it, but i've been staring at it so long i've become desensitized.

I'm getting a lot of different feedback on the site, and i've decided that to actually accomplish things, I'm going to have to start making some very executive decisions with my own eye. Please, by all means keep the comments coming; they give me tons to think about, but don't be offended if I choose to go with something else. It's not that I don't appreciate or disagree with them, I just may choose to do my own thing.
