Critique Please
Hey,
I just put my newest website online at:
http://www.crystal-interactive.com
I'd appreciate any suggestion/comments/complaints that anyone has about it.
Also...
OT: What are some really good image editing programs to use for compressing jpgs/gifs, making mass thumbnails, etc..
Thanks!

Photoshop is really great for making thumbnails. You can just create an action to resize your photo to your thumnail size and then use the batch process command to apply it to images in a folder etc. Ask in the Graphics Forum if you need more info.
The site looks fantastic! (and if you've been reading this board at all you'll know that I don't say that too often!). A couple of improvements you might want to try:
1. Try making that logo/header thing bigger - the background for it looks really neat and it might be nice to see more of it
2. Make the "on" images for the top row of buttons brighter - a more dramatic change from the normal blue would be nice. Mouseovers would be nice too I think.
3. When you list the Games under the subcategories (ie. PC Games: Stragegy) it would be nice to have a brief description of what the game is about right on that list page like you've got on the main PC Games page.
4. I think that the blurred part you've got on the headers should be a tiny bit less blurry maybe. Something to try, anyway.
It is a little bit slow to load I think - I'm on a T1 right now so it's not a problem for me but it might be a bit too slow on a dial-up. (and this might prevent you from trying no. 1 and 2 above)
Great site!

Thanks for compliments!
You brought up some great suggestions,..right now we are in the process of moving to another server which will help speeds things up, I will probably put in mouseovers at that point.
Thanks again.

definitely a very clean, well-organized professional site - the only help I could offer would be to subject you to my editing neurosis (I'm currently seeking treatment ) - in "State of War" - caps in "F of 7"? - "...software and comprised" or (even better) "...software comprising" - typo in the title of "Astro Assembler" - in "Sci Fi" - normally, I'd think about hyphenating action-packed, but you can let it go if needed for a good line break - instead of "Requiring fairly low computers, ..." how 'bout somethin' like - ok, drawin' a big blank on that one, sorry - in "New Web Site" - book calls for a comma after Inc. but... - "plenty of exciting things in store" - love that line - "Copyright ©" - I'm not sure, but is that redundant? - in "Winthrop's Mansion" - delete "Now" in the last sentence? - in "Downstone" - "somwhere in space"? - typo in northern - you're gonna hate me for this one, but don't all planets have four hemispheres (NSEW) - can ya reword this? - in "Access Image" - typo in "professional" - in "Developer Info" - in that second sentence, you might want to modify "believe" with something like "enough" - you might want to set Mr. de Vries' name off in commas - up-to-date is commonly hyphenated - a period after "...happenening with your product"? - a comma after "appointments"? - I guess you have some license on this one since it's not a sentence anyway - remove the quotes around Crystal Series™? - a comma after "In any case,..." also can you reword to avoid using "case" again - sounds at first like you're referring to "case" as used in previous sentence - can you start the other one with "Typically, this includes..." and then drop "in most cases"? - Again the book wants a comma after "Apart from this" but...
gotta run - I'll try to annoy you about the other pages later on - If I had games to sell, I'd be callin'

on my way to the nap I call sleep but hadta say, well, I dunno, who's got some ideas on how I can market a professional writing / editing / research service COMBINED with the modest skills required to produce http://ememi.com to all you nice people that publish web pages? - there's what, about a billion docs? - sounds like the stack I useta see on my desk in days past maybe you're right though - the world and I are not exactly highly integrated - well, it'll make for an easier separation, at least
