i haven't broken it down yet because i'm not sure if i like the look or not.
do you think this will top the current omega6 site?:

Why is the width so small? Make it wider so once you add content it's not three miles long.

Looks pretty good. I like the light and airy feel you have going with this site. Is it for a paintball group or something? Quite a simple design so not much to say. But simple is good That's always my preference, anyway. It might be good to bold the navigation headings so they stand out a bit, and then use the purple on mouseover.
One thing I don't like is the way the last part of "OMEGA 6" overlapps the guy in the corner there. It loses it's contrast with the background. Try puttinga white glow around those letters so it stands out. But wait, that would conflict with the drop shadow.... Maybe you could just move it over so it doesn't overlap the picture.

I've made a few changes based on what people have said here and in other threads on other forums.
This is what I have currently:
http://www.omega6.net/inprogress/
I've broken the image down into a (somewhat) functional website--none of the links work, but everything appears as if it were a functional site.
The idea of using the old image as it was and making the '6' white to contrast the soldier is something I might try and see how it looks.
But what do you think of what I have now?

I think BookMarc means the one that you posted at the top of the page, the one similar to this one.
I think the design is very good, but I think the navigation words are too close together.
The titles aswell, like 'admin panel' and 'news' should look better, maybe you could do something 'pretty' in an image

Im picky...
I can pick out all the different things you did in PS, normal but for example..
The inner shadow.. just doesnt look good IMO
I dont like the beveling either..
Gradients would be nice
Your code is awful, and :'( theres tables. and ALOT of un-neccisary code to cleanup
You should REALLY REALLY consider using CSS instead of tables. This may seem hipocritical considering my site (which is AWFUL but I am currently developing a new one) but I am redesigning it using CSS (and a whole new layout).
These details are all relativly minor, i just over analize

I don't understand. If you mean on this site:
1.) So what
2.) Guests can't post
If it's on Omega6 site
1.) Where? I can't see it

The first thing I thought when I saw the new Omega6 design was 'iPod'. But that's not a bad thing, I like that and I also like this kind of 'fixed' websites.
The trouble of these designs is (as with my own site) that it cannot deal with growth of the site. Doesn't have to be a problem, but maybe it will be in the future. So be sure to keep that in mind.
Overall I like it, maybe add a slightest tough of a warm color, but I'm looking forward on how you're gonna design the content-part.

It's nice and clean. Although I'm a fan of dark backgrouds, I must admit it looks elegant. Good luck with it. You've started it and now you know what to do next
