Could use a review
Heya
I'm kind of new to this web design biz, so I opted to do a personal homepage to see how fun it will be.
My experience thus far has been kind of frustrating, trying to adapt to Netscape 4's inability to render my site with Javascript, I use Javascript using the document.write method to easily update links in my menu without editing 30+ pages
I could use a review of my site please, it's at http://strifetemple.freewebsites.com, i know it works with Netscape 4.75, IE 5.5 and Opera 5, but NS 4 just doesn't.
I have a newer version of the main page with some redone navigation at http://strifetemple.freewebsites.com/mainpage/index22.html
Thank you

Hmm tha'ts weird, I could get there with them, I thought the hyperlink was wrong
Maybe they were backing up or something when you tried, it is a free service, so it could be busy at times
Sorry about that

A few things to note here:
The site iself looks ok (I personally prefer lighter coloured sites, I find the dark colours hard to look at after a while), but for professional sites you really should be designing sites with everyone in mind. People wont change browsers or resolution just because you tell them that you have designed the site to be viewed that way.
Another important factor is browser type, just because you prefer IE there are a lot of people who don't & use Netscape so you really must either create a separate site compatible for them or make sure your site is compatible to all.
Is there any reason you created the site to use javascript to write? It took ages to open for me and very nearly gave up on it again. This was with a modem connection at 49,333bps. Something else to think about.
Also there is an error on the page - Line 2; Char 1; Syntax error; Code 0
You have got a good start here

Thanks for your suggestions
I did go back and removed most of the javascript from the offline version of the site.
The reason I used javascript was for the right side menu, the document.write method is an easy way for me to update it without going through all of the html files and editing them one by one, after a while, this would become a very tedious task. I'm also looking for alternative ways of doing this, would you have any suggestions? I haven't been able to find anything that would work like that javascript.
As for the browser types, I have taken off that message already too, I just didn't want to upload it, as it is still in the works.
Oh, and that error, I think it is the freewebsites' servers doing that, I haven't found an error offline when I was working on the site.
