Cossacks Series Website
You Can Find The Cossacks Series Website At:
webquad.com/cossacks
Well, the WebQuad Network was expanded by yet another large website! I created this website as a fan of the Cossacks games by GSC Game World, and I went "all-out." Since we opened the WebQuad Network just this October, we have gotten a major response and I wanted to start using my resources to my advantage
By the way, special thanks for you webmasters from critiqueing(Sp?) my other websites. I took your advice about image optimization and was able to lower the size of the image files drastically. Now the Cossacks Series website is half of what it use to be in file size.
Tell me what you think, and as always, thanks,
Robby

Overall this looks really good - I'm glad to see that you've been able to get rid of the grainy effect on your graphics. The major problem here is that background on the content area - it's really hard to read the text on top of it.
That's really the only problem I can find - I really like the stone effect you've created for the graphics there. You've done a goo job of setting the tone for this site.

Thanks Megan for the kind words and helpful critique
About the background image, I hope that it is "lightened" enough for you to read the white text. I wanted to really experiment and try something different, but I have found that it is something that exceels the website. The good thing is that the website has gotten an excellent response, and I it has been officially featured on GSC Game World at gsc-game.com So, in all, there is too much good response to change anything....
Again, thanks a lot and yes, let it snow, let it snow!!

I quite like the layout, only thing that confuses me is the very top row, looks kind of like a banner but its not. By the links it looks like they go back to webquad.
Maybe since the content is a little short (and you should loose the big gap at the bottom of the page) make a right column and add the top banner links in that, under related, more or whatever.
It ties in quiet well with the browser, so if it didnt have the blue circle I wouldn't of seen it.
keep up the good work

I think it looks good. The only thing that I don't particularly like is the little squares for the background in the body text part. Maybe my eyes are getting old but it is a little hard for me to read. the background overpowers the text.

Very good quote I must say
It would make the website too tight, and I am not about to do 75+ pages over because it wouldn't be worth it
Well, I can read it fine I even have bad vision at age 17 but I wear glasses and can see it fine. I made the text size bright, bold, and large enough so the entire internet audience can read the content So, in all, it is fine!
Once again, thanks!

That background has *got* to go! I don't care how old your eyes are, they've got to be taking a beating reading that stuff.
In your navigation, "Nations" doesn't have the black shadow that the rest of the navigation does. Error or by design?
You've got no page headings - is is pretty hard to know where I am in the site.
I'd also suggest a text-only navigation at the page bottoms - not only as an alternative but it might help to balance out the pages better.

I think ,I will go along with the majority on this one.
the page loads up quickly, but again the background is conflicting with text. I could feel my eyes reacting, trying to make adjustments.
This would not compel me to stay at the website for long.
You definetly need to change that.

Well, shoot. I can't change the background, sorry. Hope you don't mind. Other than that, some of the complaints that you have suggested are incredibly minor. And yes, there are headers on the pages - read them - he he he
Again, thanks for the comments,
Robby

Why would I mind? It is your site but you asked for a critique and I think the verdict is pretty much unanimous
Ah, so you do - not very visible though are they, buried in the paragraphs like that. Or perhaps it is the background's fault

Nice metal/rock background for the large titles. But I'm also not keen on the page background.
"Cossacks Series"... ah so it's on Television.
"Want To Play The Cossacks Tournament With Honorable Players..." nope, it's a game. Is it a PC game, X-Box game, Mac game, board game, other? Is it real time, turned-based, other?
The left column has hidden links, you can't tell that they are links until you hover over them. Woe to visitors not using Explorer.
