Co-Branding "Mega"-Site
Hi,
we just finished a real major website, or I should say we finished about 60 websites.
They all use some shared pages which are maintanied by a team of editors (you find those in the upper part of the navigation) and they all have some pages which are individual to the current site, and which can be maintained by the owner through a web interface.
The sites belong to the franchises of a chain of parfume stores. Eventually, there will be over 650 sites.
One of the URLs is:

Please give your comment!
Thank You,
Malte

Nice.
1) I still think you use frames the best I've ever seen. Very nice!
2) I like the mouseovers for the bottom menu, but I don't really like the drop shadow thing for the links on the top part. If you like them though, than I would at least get rid of the | | on either side of the text.
3) You have different size fonts on different pages. I would make the standard font size for each page "2."
4) That font that you use for the text "Perfumerie + Mode" is really jagged. Alti-alias that.
5) Why is the "Links" already drop shadowed? If anything I would make the "Homepage" already like that.
6) Just noticed this: you have "links" on the top menu twice. What's up with that?
I like it, even though it does take a while to load.

Very good site, just one thing: It looks VERY Empty in the main content section. Maybe add some text and a brief introduction to the web site(s)

Hmmm, I cant reproduce that bug with the double links button. Must be a weird JavaScript problem. Since that menu is generated on-the-fly depending on which categories the customer wants in the menu, it might happen. I'll look into it.
I know about the jagged text on the logo. Thats one of the problems you have when you work with so many people you have never been on the net before. We got a very bad bitmap file with the logo, so we couldnt do anything better. I guess we'll have to live with that. Especially, cuz if you do so many sites, you cant invest time into every detail.
Thanks for the nice comments,
Malte

I have had to surf today with images off as my ISP (and most of this side of my country) had serious router problems.
Couldn't do a damn thing without alt tags or text links, without just guessing or trying each link.
Otherwise, nicely fits into 800X600 screen with all the toolbars open. Good job.
Just remember that even blind folks and folks without image browsers like to smell nice.

I also thought that there were too many images on there, for different reasons though. It just seems unnatural to me to plaster images over a page, instead of using the natural media (text, table backgrounds). That's probably a personal preference. When I look at pages that are almost totally made up of imgaes it makes me feel like I'm looking at a big band-aid.
Are you not worried about download times? I've heard conflicting stories about internet access in Europe - I've heard that people have to pay for local calls, so it's really important to keep download speeds down. Someone said (maybe you?) that most people have high speed access because of that...
It looks really nice though. I like how the team...jobs etc. pages coordinate with the navigation bar, but the rest of them look disjointed, because they don't coordinate. I guess that's the problem with the set-up you've got there.
The links page seriously needs to be re-done. Those images are pretty poor quality - especially the mouseover ones. I also think that the text on the navigation bars is a little too small. It's a little bit of a strain on the eyes to read those, but the fact that I don't understand the language probably contributes to that.

The thing with the local access payment has been worked around by not doing local calls but actually doing long range calls through providers which charge only very little for it.
A flat rate now is like $50/month, for $5/month you get 1cent/minute internet access.
Anyway, pages in Germany tend to use more images than American oney. Its probably a local preference. For us its natural cuz the pages are designed in Photoshop and you usually have to use images to realize those pages on the web.
