Assassin Band Website
OK, I've reviewed a few sites and I think it's time to jump into the wildfire. This is the website that my rock band uses. I'm sorry if anything is down when you get on. I've had some trouble manipulating my CSS code. But don't worry about that. What I'm looking for is overal design advice. Make sure to turn down your volume. There are clips of the band in the background that have a tendency to get a little loud. The URL is http://assassin.cjb.cc Thank you all in advance.

Hi
You might want to consider changing the music that comes on when someone visits your web site. First of all, it usually better to have a link or button to allow the visitor to start the music themselves. Secondly, Ozzie might sick his lawyers on you for playing one of his songs, unless you are already paying a licencing fee.
I'd run a spell checker on your pages.
"Welcome to the Assassin Website, we've been rocking for about a year an a half now and have finally began to play shows at live venue." Is that what you'd read on the AC/DC or Ozzie website? How about:
"Assassin is a heavy metal rock group based in Karlstad, Sweden, and inspired by the works of Ozzie Osborn, .... The group was formed a year and a half ago, and plays at a variety of venues." venues perhaps not the best word choice for this site.
Up to you, but "Assassin News" reads too much like "aren't we lucky to get a gig" and not enough like "here's where you can check us out". I realize you guys are young and fairly new, but no one says you have to come across like that on your site. Like I said, up to you.
As regards to layout/design, personally I'd lose the animated gif and find another place for the smoking link. I'd much rather see a few high quality images of the band playing.
One important question. Is the site to promote your band and get work, or is just something for fun? If it's an attempt at business hire a pro photographer that's shot musicians before, get some colored spotlights, smoke, etc, and get some cool shots. If you look good and sound good, whose not going to hire you?
Good luck to you.

Hello,
I really like the tabs you use on your site.
I noticed a lot of "space" on your pages mostly to the right side of your site. In my opinion you should consider spreading out some of your content to cover this space or use this space for some other purpose.
The space is there...you might as well take advantage of it.
Regards,
James

Things are really messed up in Opera, you should check that out. Looks okay in Mozilla but that music really wasn't for me Thankfully I have embedded audio turned off in Opera so I can look at your site a little more. As a music site you should definitely have some of your songs up for download.
I agree that you need some better photos on here. Even if you knew someone who was somewhat talented with photography it would be better than what you have here. Especially the heads cut out and pasted on other photos (although, that might be a neat idea if the photos were of better quality).
The graphics and layout in general are passable but generally of low quality. I'm sure you will be able to improve on this as you continue your participation here

Does this look any better to you guys? http://assassin.cjb.cc
btw, thank you all for the quick responses. This advice has been great. I haven't really had a chance to change the articles and such, but I'll make sure that future Assassin News sounds more professional.

Hi,
maybe you should fold your page in a table defined in pixels; it wouldn't be so streched;
I think you have two tags and two tags, and about 150 layers?!
Colors are maybe to strong, but it's a matter of taste.
I hope you understand everything I wrote.

I cleaned up a bunch of my code, I'm sorry to double take this thread, but does this work better for you all? I call the content of my pages with a PHP script which is why it looked like there were 2 of everything I have eliminated th head and body tags from the imported pages.
