I have just opened a new website called "Ask Anon" (read this post for more information). I know there isn't much content or members yet, but most of the content is going to be user-submitted (it's a forum).

I would like to know what you think of the design (I know it's kind of blah, but I was going for a simple look) but I am more concerned with a few vital points:

-Is it a website you would frequent often?
-Is it a website that someone you know would frequent often?
-What features could I offer that I currently don't that would make it more attractive to a visitor?

If you could answer those questions I would be very appreciative.

Thank you.

Decent 1st part of url (askanon), is that a redirect though? If so, why?

I think you need to half, then half again the *massive* AskAnon banner - god help anyone viewing in 800x600.

What is the purpose of your forum. Are you homing in one one particular area as I couldn't see what you were trying to achieve.

There's loads of forums. I think it's important to make it obvious within the first 7-10 seconds.

The design lacks 'meat'. If your thrust is to have a no holds barred website where members have a no-holds barred attitude then the colour scheme needs looking at (did I really have members, thrust AND meat in the same sentence - tut tut).

Make the headline clearer, change/upgrade the ? and downsize the banner.

Again, my personal opinion - remember, it's okay to disagree?

I have made a few size changes and added a "Welcome" box that states the purpose of the site. Smiling

I'd love to hear more. Laughing out loud

from search engines point of view,
the title is not descriptive at the sametime it has a special character ~.
make the welcome box prominent
because that clarifies the purpose of your forum and makes your visitors to join the forum

I really like the font used for the logo but in general it lacks excitement.

I'm sorry but i found the site quite boring and plain, there was nothing there of any great interest. The homepage was bland and didnt grab my attention, theres no content of either quantity or quality and its hard to know what exactly you are aiming at here. The homepage just doesnt tell visitors what its about, if i ended up there from a search i'd think i was in the wrong place.!

One suggestion would be that you could make the homepage "a homepage", put some content in there, articles, news, topical conversation starters, then have a link to the forums.
I really just wasnt sure what the point of it was, sorry. Laughing out loud
