Advise on index page - Which one should I use
Hello, I have started a graphic and web design site where I have free graphics for people to download and I need some advice. When I first designed the site I used http://pageantworld.net/charmgraphics.shtml as the home page. Since then I have designed a page with the details about the hosting, and web design which has a different design. My question is should I ditch the first page and just use the top part of http://pageantworld.net/charmgraphics/charmhosting.shtml as the home page and just add some links to the free graphics from this new page. Or would you keep the first design as the intro page.
Also, I plan on adding some business type backgrounds and I would like to know what is the most bytes that you would use for a business background. Most of my graphic backgrounds are more for personal home pages right now.

I come back to add a new option I just whipped out a new image that matches the hosting page better. http://pageantworld.net/charmgraphics/index.shtml. Would a index page look best made around this image. I would value your opinions.
Thanks Larry Davis

Just a few comments:
- I like the new logo.
- Ditch the lined bg as it looks awful.
- I think you should use better images than the clipart one you currently have.
- for the requirements I would not use a list as it makes your column to thin.

Hey Larry,
The last option from the second post wind hands down in my opinion!!!! It's very nice and stylized a lot more then the first page examples -- I like the colors a lot more then the green/red combination from before also.
You could take that image (or whatever comes of it) and incorporate it into the main page -- would be a nice change .
If you want to make your image look less clip-artish (JP's post) just try opening it in photoshop or whatever paint program your using, adjust the colors a bit or add an effect that makes them
look more original (I know you've already done that but it still looks like clip art--cartooney as I call it) just a thought.
As far as the professional backgrounds, I see them a lot (my AAT&T worldnet providers page for one) I'm not sure about the size, maybe try and find a few and take a look.
take care,

Hi
I took everyone advise and changed the site. I designed it around the new logo image. I am not quite finished with the changes but let me know what you think. I also did away with the awful. background and the clip art on the hosting pages and changed the background to the graphics pages. Thanks for everyone's suggestions you people were a big help.

Hi Larry,
looks pretty good!!!
I would use the same font for your name on both the entry page and your graphics. You have some techno font on the first page and the opposite (old english style) on the graphics page. Keep in mind also that that font (old english one) is a display font (designed for larger point sizes) and loses a lot of the detail when it's made small "button size" , I can still read your buttons though.
I'm not sure how I like that pink color with the burgundy color, if I had to pick one it would be the burgundy .
take care,
