"young" grasshopper developer need assistance
I started working on web development kinda late in the game compared to the rest of you. I am 32 and have worked in the web development field as a hobby for about 4 years or so. I have taught myself html and have a little experience with Flash 5. I work my pages in dreamweaver and ultra developer and my graphics in photoshop 6. I do have a few websites online (hanoverohio.com, duaneflowersconstruction.com and www.hanoverohio.com\lvlions) and getting ready to do a couple more but feel that I am getting behind the game because I do not know the programming languages.
Towards the middle of next year I want to be working as a full time web developer as a second career. But in this world of web development things move very quickly and I want to be competitive and right now I just do not feel that I am. My question is this, where should I start? Should I learn javascript, vbscript, xml, dhtml, or what? Where are the best online tutorials for these subjects? I am serious and would like to take a good 6 months or so to learn all I can about web development. I would like to set up a learning schedule for myself based on your ideas and thoughts. Thank you.

DHTML is just JavaScript+CSS+valid html/xhtml (the DOM). You should learn the CSS/html/xhtml part of that, anyway.
None of what you've listed are programming languages, however.
JavaScript is a client-side scripting language, vbscript is a proprietary language (MS) and I'm not sure of its uses.
If you're looking for server-side languages to learn, you'll be looking at open source (PHP, Perl), or proprietary (ASP, Java, JSP).
There are some interesting threads in the Internet Business forum you might want to read, but in general, know that you can't be everything to everyone, so it's better that you find people to work with than attempt to do it all yourself.

Thank you very much. I will take a look at those entries on the internet business. Thanks again
