Why Frontpage? Why not? (minor rant)
My boss just gave me the greenlight to build a new web site for our company (more on that once I get a working model up and running.) Our IT dude is annoying me to use MS Frontpage. Why, I have no idea. I guess he thinks I'll be abducted by aliens the day I'm fininshed and the office assistant knows just enough about FP to change the product photos. When asked why, my answer is simple: Because I'm am comfortable in my current methods and it's foolish for me to learn a (possibly complicated) program for something I already know how to do. That should be reason enough, but what other reasons are there?
* Bloated code, possibly not friendly to non-IE browsers (IE has 95% of the browser market he says. Guess he hasn't seen the gov warning on IE. Guess he hasn't seen how overloaded the Mozilla forums have been since then either. That percentage *will* change.)
* Editing through extentions - what if the server goes down?
So, what other reasons can I list? Or am I off the mark here? I'll admit to being an anti-FP lemming, due to usenet and other forums such as this where html purist regularly slag a program I know nothing about.
Anyone want to help me set him straight? Or set me straight?

Yeah, I've seen those threads and a hundred more like them. I guess I was just looking for simple subjective reasons that even the non-initiated could understand
Thanks,

Its simple, you alread have the answer: frontpage is a garbage spewing piece of junk, it litters the site with tons of needless worthless code and the only reason it exists is so that hobbiest can put together a somewhat functioning website. No professional web designer worth a dime would use it.

Just tell him/her "Thanks but this is 2004, I perfer to make my sites with todays web strandards as set out by W3C so my work isn't just limited to those who use IE, I would like my work to be as www spells out - world wide web."
or use some more big words and initals (CSS, XHTML, DOM ...)

Not sure which one I prefer most, Wesley or Busy's reply!!!
As a host I would say bin FP every time. It's a time consuming pain in the a*s that often breaks. Why not ask your IT guy to give YOU the reason why you SHOULD use it? That will throw him!

I've already given my answer and the boss has already signed off on the project, so nothing more many come of it. I just wanted some ammo in case he whined to her. We'll see, but I think my expressed goals for the site have closed that chapter.
