Which browsers support which CSS specs?
So we have CSS1 and CSS2 as of now right? or possibly partial support from the bickering rivals?
And we have
Windows;
iExp 5 - 6
Mozilla
Linux; Mozilla
Mac OS9;
iExp 5
Mozilla
Mac OSX;
iExp 5
Mozilla
(maybe) Safari
That's about all I want to deal with.

Umm, it seem, now that I'm reading the CSS2 Abstract at w3, this may have been a dumb question.

Maybe Safari? !? Good grief.

And there's a certain other standards compliant browser I don't see listed there either

When is enough enough?
Suzanne, I use Safari. It's too new to work right. I mean I'll check it out but I'm not going to agonize over it. There are some limits. It doesn't work right for some of the huge sites (TV Guide) so if there are some small bugs.
Megan, I'm assuming you mean Netscape? Since it's Mozilla based...
If its Opera or one of the others then again there are limits.
Heck checking the combination I'm checking is more than most designers check.
Is there a poll on this here?

No, I mean Opera. It is actually more standards compliant than Mozilla when it comes to CSS.
If you code to standards you shouldn't have so many problems with cross-browser compatibility.
As for CSS support, I think IE 5 is your lowest common denominator here. Because of it's poor level of support you may have to put in some work-arounds for things that work correctly in standards compliant browsers.

Corded Poodle, too new to work right?! Nay. There are minor discrepancies, primarily with JavaScript and hacks. Also, OS9 still has Netscape 4.x running on it.
As Megan said -- start with standards and you'll have far less grief.

Megan,
That's good to know about Opera. I'm not so worried about compliant browsers as noncompliant. iExp of corse. I do try to check my code at several online code checkers. It's not like I'm lax.
I figure if you are using an unusual browser and it's noncompliant then to heck with it. iExp is bad enough.
Suzanne
I've stopped worrying about Nets 4 on OS9 because so many other sites have abandoned it. I actually used to be a big fan of Nets 4 for my own personal reasons but it's just outmoded now. My clients have more people on Linux/Mozilla than OS9/Nets 4.
Like I said enough is enough. I'm not charging the big bucks yet. For what I charge my clients get a very good deal compared to what I've seen.

Megan, Suzanne,
Hey what about my question?
How compliant are the browsers I listed?

There will never be a 100% compliant browser, heck HTML isn't even fully supported yet and we're onto XHTML already.
As mentioned work with the standards but remember just because it's valid doesn't mean it will work across the board.
bring back NS4 hehe

Thanks.
I was more wondering like on a scale of 1-10 maybe opera is 9.5 etc.
Maybe it would be simpler to ask which are the least compliant?

You can't really scale it, because it all depends on what level of CSS your using, even then a scale would be guess work.
You could say 100% CSS but there is more than one way to skin a cat.
If you stick with mild CSS it's pretty well portable, some workarounds may still be needed thou

Least compliant at the moment is easy -- IE.
Opera, Safari, Mozilla all have better support for CSS properties (and HTML/XHTML) and standardized ECMA Scripting.

One thing I have noticed is that I don't think mozilla supports all CSS, am I correct? It does most but sometimes I can see things properly in IE6 and not in mozilla and its the css settings that are whats off.
