i want to make a motorbike portal website - it will have one section which allows websites to post a text link on the site for free - in a certain category. what is the best way to go about this. should i use php? or what?

also, any other ideas on how to make a portal more user friendly would be of great help. thanks

I'd use a PHP system combined with a MySQL database. This would make the portal nice and fast.

There are a load of free scripts available at hotscripts.com
One that stood out was this one:

I would use phpnuke I use that for my motocross website
my example motocrossfury.com/site.
PHPNuke is the best portal I know of, you can have web links, polls, it comes with a forum, news publisher, content manager, it has a million addons aswell.

Yes there are some bugs but if you make sure you only activate the modules you need, and you keep up to date, it's acceptable. most if the bugs i hear of are in fancy modules i don't use or in the admin interface wich makes it not as bad.

IF , ELSE , WHILE isn't that what life is all about
