Website Log Files

I hope I'm posting in the right place?

I currently have a website that I've just finished. It's my first to have a proper purpose and be hosted fully.

My host doesn't supply very good site statistics so I went out and looked for a log analyser to get better stats. I've found a few free ones that are quite good but the problem is the host archives all of the older logs within a cab archive. I can read the current days log file with all the software but I'm looking for a freeware one that can also look inside the cab files. I don't want to have to manually extract each one before I can get the full load of stats.

Any advice is welcomed.

I had the same problem a few years back. My solution (not a pretty one) was to download the cab files on a weekly basis and uncompress them. Then I ran the log file program against the local log files. Like I said, not the prettiest solution, but it worked for me.

Winzip uncompressed my cab files just fine.

Thanks. I had tried that as a way to at least get the stats. As you say it's a bit long winded though. I assumed there must be some log analyser that can uncompress the logs as part of the process?
