VISTA, FTP, and IIS
I just got a new Vista OS computer to work with. I have to admit, it is a bit more snazzy.
So, now, to re-learn stuff.
I want to do some ASP.NET development. So, how do I set up an IIS with this?
Also, I have found that I cannot use FTP like I used to. In the earlier versions of the OS and maybe earlier versions of Windows Explorer, I could just type the address of the FTP site, and it would prompt me for the username and password. I do not have such luck with VISTA. Could it be some sort of firewall setting? If so, how do I check that? I tried some FTP software programs, and they seem to fail as well.

I don't use Microsoft stuff, so hopefully someone else can help you with that, but there's a recent topic on FTP clients you might find useful. I have no idea why Vista would be blocking your FTP access, it may be your firewall but that is usually for incoming connections.

Errr, I just did some checking and it seems you work for Microsoft. That report could be wrong, but there is a lot of paranoia about 'paid shills' out there on the Web, particularly working for Microsoft. It does strike me as odd that a Microsoft employee would come on here to ask about Windows Vista though, am presuming that if you did work for Microsoft you could just go and ask Steve Ballmer or something. Or would he throw a chair at you?
Anyway, I have to ask: do you work for Microsoft?
