vehicle based e-commerce
Hi all, great forums.
Just a quickie for my first post..
Does anyone know of a good e-commerce package that caters for vehicle-model-product relationships?
Currently using OSC a lot, but the structure does not allow for easy attribute relationships.. i've managed to mish mash a structure which works but it doesnt cater for different prices per model, but the relationship is there.
What does everyone else use? there must be an off the shelf solution with related categories/attributes somewhere...

Is this from our new site sponsor what you're talking about?

Or do you mean a search mechanism like in Autotrader when you select a manufacturer and then you automatically get a list for their model line up?
I think you'll have to go into more detail as i'm not sure this topic has come up before

yes, similar to autotrader.
Ie you have a product list, with each product only applicable to certain makes and models, and can reflect different prices dependant on this.
When using the search function, you can select a vehicle make , after which the model list automatically populates with the relevant models.

If you look at the source code on Autotrader you could just take the Javascript files...

Autotrader was just an example.. the autotrader make/model relationship is simple.. I'm looking for something else..
I'm after an out of the box e-commerce package that caters for linked/related attributes with product relationships, that caters for pricing based on selection.
Ie, a product is selcted from the catalog, the product info is listed along with a price. Additionally to this i also need a drop down selection which lists makes and model that this product is available for (with pricing differences if applicable). Several off the shelf packages cater for this, but the main feature i need is the model list self populates depending on previous choice of make.
These makes and models would also have to be searchable from the main page.
I hope that makes sense... to recap it is simply a searchable and configurable Category/product/make/model relationship.. in that order.
Perhaps someone who uses a lot of e-commerce packages may be able to help...
