Hmmm, compatibility with other browsers was not mentioned. I wonder why.

I haven't had a chance to read this too thoroughly yet but I think you have to keep in mind that it was written in 1997 (which makes the browser compatibility issue even more interesting, since NS did have the majority at that time). I found it interesting how there is a lot on use of audio here, but that was sort of a big new thing in those days.
Interesting is the section on creating emotion towards the bottom. I have to wonder if this section was mistakenly pulled from an article about television production or something! It could be that at the time this article was written there was a sort of immature understanding of what the web was an is. I think the web has evolved in a different way from what comes across in this article. (i.e. the author refers to your "audience" rather than "visitors" or "users").
Interesting as a historical document, if nothing else. Some of the bits it here about content are good guidelines though.

I didn't read the article in full until just now nor did I notice that the article was a bit dated. My bad. There are lot of things that aren't covered but several things that I saw while scanning the article the other night that I thought might be helpful to people who are fairly new in the web design business were.... When to use animation. How to improve structure.
