Talkback links

I was working on a site for a client, and noticed in their choice of blogging software (Pivot) each post had a link to generate a TalkBack link. I was curious, so I went looking and found the gist of what it is, however I was confused to if it is a reference back between blogs, why (at least in Pivot) it says the link is only valid for 15 minutes?

The only thing I can think of is, when you generate the link, you need to have it up and posted on your own blog (which will then "call" that link, and you need to do this within 15 minutes of generating the link. (So a bot can't go mine every TalkBack link for someone to use the next day).

Is my understanding correct? Thanks.

It's been awhile since I checked up on that blogging solution. That's the first one I used for my site before Wordpress.

Anyways, the 15-minute thing is unique to Pivot, and yes, it's to keep bots out.
