I really don't know that you will get a free one that doesn't expect you to but up some kind of button/banner advert for them!
I take it you mean for tracking visitors stats? Do you not have access to the log files?

I used to use extreme tracking (think its extreme.com), they do want a small icon displayed on your page but its only about 20x20 (give or take a few) and the stats it gives are really good. used them for about 2-3 years and never had any problems

I thought the old time trick with these was to edit the code to display an image of width 1 x height 1px. Although, this is porbably against their TOS.

Not sure if this is what you need but sitemeter.com is pretty good. If you don't want anything displayed on your page at all you can just make the text color of the counter the same as your background.

For free and invisible go to yTrack.com
The good part is based on one's point of view.

How so? What exactly do you mean by that? Welcome to TWF, by the way.

I used them for several weeks this spring or early summer, and the experience was a bad one for me. The site was down a lot and the coding slowed or even stopped the loading of pages during this time. But I don't know how they've been since.
Besides, saying a service is good or not is simply a personal opinion, where free and invisible are not.
