simple noob question
Hey all,
What is it called when you have nav buttons and the main banner all staying put, and when someone clicks on the nav buttons, and when pulling up the page, the browser is told to reuse the cached nav buttons and banner?
Because I built a total noob page where every link I click, I can tell the browser's downloading a fresh copy of everything b/c the banner and the nav buttons disappear, and then reload slowly, whereas the text in the main section shows up quickly.
Oh and to clarify, all the graphics are stored in one folder; there isn't a separate graphics folder for each page.
TIA!

I think you may be talking about using html frames?
If you are, mabey you should think about using something like php to do your navigation, header, footer, and main page.
Not knocking html frames or anything, just seen too many nasty sites in the early 90's.

HTML frames are generally a bad idea and often over used. I saw a site once where there were three vertical scroll bars for frames pluss one for the over all page. I didn't even know which scroll button was for which part of the site. Even tables are starting to become a thing of the past. CSS and Div/span tags will organize your website better than anything else.
