Im looking for some kind of shopping cart solution for a small website I am making. Its a small publishing company that is only pubishing 1 or 2 books right now, so number of books being sold will be very small. I am looking for something that will take credit cards and is secure.

I took a look at Paypal....is $20/month worth it?

I dont know much scripting, so what if I did go for some open source shopping cart. Is it advanced or straight forward to set up? Would I need to learn a little ASP or PHP?

Im kinda new at all this so any suggestions will help!

Thanks!

You only really need coding if you are going for some kind of catalogue site driven from a database. Hosted carts such as paypal or RomanCart only need a form in HTML to transfer the information over, and for a few products (~50 or less) are more than adequate.

Are there any others like Romancart that are free, hosted and customizable to match your site?
Thanks!

personally I would be more than a little suspicious of any cart/payment gateway that was free

you people and your free t-shirts.

dont you understand if you want to sell things on the internet just like in real life you have to spend a little money like setting up a normal shop.

Well, you can always trade time out for money. With plenty of research into the different open source options out there, and the less expensive payment gateways, you should be able to find something that costs relatively little but is reliable. However, it does take quite a bit of research and possibly customizing work on the open source solutions to get it to do just what you want.

So I would agree with ilovefrontpage that it is like "real life" in that you have to invest something. Time or money, it's your choice.

Now, if it is completely free, I would be extremely suspicious, like Chris said.
