Hi All,

I have a client who is about to sign with us but there is one caveat that is standing in the way. They frequently change text and pics and they would like to have the ability to make these changes on their own without having to call us. They said that they have the ability with their current vendor and do not want to lose it. Does anyone know how this is accomplished and what would I have to do to give it to them with the "template" of their design locked somehow so they dont screw it up on mistake?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

Sounds like you need to use a content management system. I use Drupal but there are other choices as well.

What is their site built with now? For a static site one option is Adobe Contribute. It's a very simple WYSIWYG editor that allows you to lock down certain parts of a page. For example, if the site is built with dreamweaver templates you can prevent Contribute users from editing certain parts of the page.

It also has a really simple, non-intimidating interface that's easy for beginners to use. All they do is browse to the page they want to edit, just like in a web browser, then click "edit" and they get a simple set of controls that look and work just like they would in a word processing program. You can even set up users' permissions so they can't do certain things (like change fonts or colours for example).

It woud be beneficial to take a look at the existing site and find out how they are editing things now. It would probably be easiest for the client to continue doing what they're doing now...
