You are kidding aren't you? Resetting the users homepage without their permission is not a good thing to do. Sure it can be done but the consequences of doing so far outweigh the advantages. If a site did that to me, I would consider a lawsuit.

This isn't an attack against you personally - it's an attack against the idea. I am getting increasingly annoyed with the methods of trickery some people are using to get others to visit their site. This just isn't ethical to me.
Anyway, I don't know how to do this but I really hope you have a darned good reason for doing it.

I've never understood why web designers insist on doing things that irritate the hell out of people. Oh well, I suppose its the "Phone Marketing" gene or something.
BTW, I know how to do what you want to do. It is actually quite simple.

Nope.
Besides, all you'll end up doing is resetting the wrong person's home page and painting a target on your server. Not worth it...

Best to create a good, worthwhile, useful site that people will want to make their homepage out of choice, or add it to their favourites!

It's not about loving you or hating you. It is about a pretty disgusting practice. Most of the time, resetting a users homepage automatically is done on porno sites. Since morals are already low there and most users will not report this since they probably don't want to advertise the fact that they frequent porno sites. I would think that the case for a lawsuit would be pretty good since you have done something on something that I own without my permission.

I don't think that you are justified in compairing what you are wanting to do with what Microsoft does.
Why in the world do you want to reset someones home page anyway?? If you think that is going to help keep visitors or encourage them to come back then you are very wrong.
I thought you had a pretty good web site but you can bet your bottom dollar that I will NOT go back to it now. Because, if you are thinking of resorting to things such as this then there is no telling what other types of trickery or even illegal things you may be doing.
Thanks for letting us know your intentions.

I have a few choice words for any scum who stoops to such low moral values. But, being above such behavior, I will leave it at that.

Off topic, but what the heck is up with the language and country restrictions in those terms there?? Does anyone have a rational explanation like that? Seems like blatant political and ethnic discrimination to me.

Yes, I saw that too. I had to go back and read it twice to make sure I saw what I saw. And how in the world can they prevent "surfers" from the countries specified from surfing their sites?

Heh. I was about to post a similar question. My best guess is that these languages, using non-latin alphabets, would be difficult to screen for content that may violate the Member Agreement.
