Hello...
I've setup a new forum at my site and I have a big problem...
My host(free web-hosting) doesn't give me an e-mail account.
I need an e-mail account(free) with SMTP that allows me to use it as the default e-mail of my forum
(from this e-mail will be sending an automatic
e-mail for every new registration,or when a member of my site has forgoten his password ect) .

Is my Yahoo e-mail ok for this??Is it legal to use it for this purpose??
If not,do you have any suggestions?? Confused Confused

If it is not allowed to write websites please send me a PM..

(Sorry for my Bad English)

Thanks in advance

SMPT is actually bulkmail, this is between and your isp, not yahoo. There are several free smpt programs on the internet, but whether you isp will allow you to use their smpt server is the question. Mine wont, MA BELL you know.

You should be able to use Yahoo mail; I don't see why not

Call them whoever they are, if they allow it, they will probably have to set it up.

I don't think Yahoo will go for bulk mailing. It is considered SPAM you know, even in the best of circles.

Let me try to explain this simply. Your server doesn't allow you to send emails, so you need an external SMTP, your best bet for finding one is your INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER, however you connect to the internet, AOL, Comcast, etc. You might have to call them and ask if you can use their SMTP server when you're not at home, which is the same as your website, because it's just another computer connected to the internet, and they should be able to give you some settings like port 465 and a username and password that will allow you to send mail from your site, depending on the forum script's abilities, if it's PHPBB, I know you can do that.

Yahoo will NOT work because they do not have an SMTP server that is publically accessible. GMail does though, if you need a gmail invite, I can provide that. Then you'll simply have to set the smtp server as smtp.gmail.com with your gmail username and password.

You can send yourself an invite if you have an existing account.
