Wow. It looks like they've incorporated a lot of HomeSite's functionality into the code editor. Unfortunately, their feature tour didn't give me a real dood idea of the workspace layout. I hope they've introduced dockablilty. I'd be interested in some screenshots if anyone has the time.

From what I've looked at so far you can either choose to have the layout as it is in DW4 or have it so that there is a whole new layout with everything docked in position with drop-down/expandable menus and tabs. I'll have a play over the weekend and post some screen shots for you.

Actually I got a spare 5 mins and had another peek at it. It is much better IMO as everything is within easy reach and you can see what's what and seems to have many more functions within it. Here's a screen shot

ooh, thanks for the screenshot. (this is one of those threads I'm not getting notification on)
Looks like everything is nicely docked. can they be closed for a more full screen design view? I don't use DW enough to really justify the upgrade but who knows, I may break down eventually.

Yes, all the side tabs can be minimised and the other thing that's nice is having a split screen so that you can see both design and code at the same time. Also on the side tab is the site files so that you can see all the pages/images and just double click on them to open.

Thanks! Yeah, that looks very neat - in both American and English senses
Looks like a tree-view of CSS, and all those tabs across the top of everything are much handier - I'm a big tab fan. Are there tabs for having multiple pages open too?

Sorry Julia but that is about all the help I will be (a screenshot) with Fireworks. I have never used it and just got it loaded today. I am not really sure where to start in trying to learn how to use it. Time to search for some good tuts I suppose before my time runs out.

Hi Julia
I downloaded it yesterday and I like it... There are a couple of threads about it over on another forum I read
http://www.invisionboard.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=12&t=3517&hl=dreamweaver+mx

I like it a lot more than v.4 which I think is a bit annoying... I've got 59days of play left on it so we'll see if I like it enough to buy it....

DW MX got a glowing review from Kevin Yank at SitePoint - says it's DW4, UltraDev, HomeSite and Cold Fusion Studio all rolled into one!
Mentions it's now a 1-window layout, with palettes docked and tabs for different windows. Says better interface than any of the above programs.
Also improved support for in-page CSS in the Property Inspector, and he says it's now his favorite PHP editor.
If it's all true, sounds like it could be well worth the $200 upgrade.

I know that some people were worried about its stability - like windows xp.
Any problems with that?

Not so far and I would say that it's quicker for things like ftp.
