.NET or Java?
Right, i can see that the web business is going one of two ways... .NET or Java. I have a horrible feeling that alot of businesses are taking to using .NET, i have never learnt it and hate the idea of relying on such a commercial based product to produce my websites, applications...etc.
But is it inevitable, will .NET take over the world and should i just take a deep breath and start to learn it now - for the sake of making a living?
What do you all think?

What exactly don't you like about .Net or Java? Why are you averse to "commercial based" products?
Just trying to get a clearer picture.

No way... loads of huge companies are happy to use open source technologies like PHP nowadays. Of course, it depends on the market you aim for - some companies love to use all the crappy MS buzzwords!
