Need help - Making money with a chat room

I got 2 questions. 1 Do chat rooms make decent money. 2. What types of banners/programs/affilates should i use for a adult content site. (targeting basicly house wifes, single men, single women, and bored men)

I originally started a anime website. I ended up with an adult chat. I had quite a few friends who where begging to put up a chat room, some even donated to buy the upgrade for SigmaChat. This site has been up for less then a week, and with a tremendous word of mouth campaign my site is seeing alot of visitors. I ended up putting ads up, and a game room and a forum, which seems to keep regulars around (I currently have around 70 regulars). I still need to switch it over to its own domain and fix a critical spelling error.

My question is should i stick with porn ads, and AFF ads, or should i switch to something a bit more tame, as i'm thinking alot of the site traffic will end up being regulars and visit atleast 1 time a week. I know the steps to get traffic, as i already have stuff working out fairly well, but i got no clue on what would be good advertising for my site. PLEASE HELP. I've posted alot on other forums and people just ignore it. I really could use a hand.

chat and ads don't mix, people go to chat rooms to chat, not to surf the net.

With only 70 regulars you'd need a lot of roatating ads to keep them happy, seeing the same old ad soon becomes boring quickly and lessens the chance of them paying attention or getting them to click on new ones

Thanks very much for replying. Are there any other good money making techniques or idea i can use to make full use of that chat room?

I'd say that you shouldn't be thinking about how the chat room is making you money, but thinking more about how the rest of the site can. As Busy said chat rooms don't really make money, they're just a bonus feature.

That said you could introduce a premium membership feature, people who pay some cash get added bonuses: The ability to add photos of themselves to their chat profile or customised avatars (like we have here) etc. This also has a lot to do with the limitations of your chat software, something I know nothing about. Smiling

In summary: Premium memberships for the chat, normal advertising for the rest of the site.

Now should i go with adult ads, or google, or what is usually something with some type of good conversion. Also i'm aiming for around 6-8k uniques a month, thats what a similar room, of the same advertising and structure was doing. Which is what this is made to replace. I think i'll be able to keep around 1/10 of those people as regulars who vsiit once a week, and only about half that that visit every day. Of there is any way i can make money based on how long their at my site, or whatever, that would help ouch alot. Also when you leave the chatroom i can choose where the exit traffic goes. now, i don't know whats terribly effecient for all of this.
