Looking for feedback on a product idea
Howdy everyone.
I've had an idea for a product in the back of my mind for a long time. The product is focused on webmasters like you, so I thought before I spend tens of hours developing it, I should post here (and at a couple of other forums) to see what people say about the idea.
To keep it simple, my idea is to build a software which you install at your website, and it lets you add php scripts to your website through an easy-to-use interface. E.g by pointing and clicking. You don't need any programming knowledge, or any other tehnical knowledge at all.
For example, if you want to add a 'Contact Us' form to your website, normally you would:
- Pay someone to do it
- Find an open source/free script which does that, and struggle at least half an hour with installing it.
- If you are a programmer, code it yourself, which would still take up at least an hour of your time which could be better spent on something else.
Same thing goes when you want to add a feedback form, a sign up form, a page for displaying all your products/articles/anything else.
The idea behind my product is, you create all these pages easily by pointing and clicking, describing what the script has to do through a web-baed interface. To get a better idea of how that'll work, check out this little demo/prototype of how my product will work at:

Check it out and let me know of your thoughts.
P.S if you're a designer and you think you can make the (horrible looking) interface of my product look better, click here.

That's a great idea! It has been done before, though, so you would need some sort of hook to get people to use your product instead of one of the others.
Here's one I've used before:

Yes, sounds like a good idea. I think a lot of people don't add a lot of interactivity to their sites becuase they're afraid to install scripts. Creating a good, usable interface would be most important. You're catering to people who might not be as tech-savvy as others so things need to be super clear.
