Can someone tell me how I set up a file so that when a visitor clicks on the download button it will download a file? Like an .avi file?

The easiest way is to compress it into a zip file, but most people have their browser configured to treat .avi files a particular way, so you can just hyperlink it.

Point your link to the actual file - example given by suzanne above - this generally works for most file types you would want people to download.
