Just in case I'm not the only idiot who never knew this until now...

Since I do a fair amount of bilingual sites, I often need to run through content (usually French) to replace all the extended characters (ie. à é etc). Being a very time-consuming process, I've often wished that there was some way to do this automatically.

Duh! I've been coding with HomeSite for years, since v2.5 and currently use v5.0. I don't know how long it's had this feature but..

Under "Search" is the option "Replace Extended Characters..."

Voila! all done with a few mouseclicks!

I'm such an idiot. Hope someone benefits from my stupidity Sticking out tongue

I'm pretty sure that Dreamweaver can do this too - my only concern is if they're going to do it for all special characters or just those in text (I've seen quotes in javascript calls, for example, converted to & quot; but I think GoLive did that. )

It appears to leave quotes alone. I was worried about that too.
