help with optimizing a web page !!!
Sorry, if I posted it in the wrong forum.
After few months working in online marketing field, got a chance to work with a web page of a site. That page is exiting for long, but not able to obtain good position in SERP. When I checked the site, could not find any meta keyword and description there. I have included and found little improvement. I want to proceed further but scared, if I change whole lots of things in that at a time will that be harmful for that site. And If you help me to know, your experienced in optimizing a web page, i shall be grateful
Thanks in advance
Jackie

You mean to say your site is very long to load? If it is, you must edit your site into a search engine friendly one.

If you have a long load time for the pages on your site, then check the following:
-excessive / broken JavaScript/AJAX
-slow server
-unnecessary database connections and queries
-non-standard XHTML code
-terrible server-side coding

I think she's talking about SEO. In either case it would be good to see the site so we can offer more specific advice.
For search engines, meta tags don't really matter much anymore. The most important thing on your site is the and tags (, etc. to a lesser extent). You also have to make sure the bots can follow links around your site. Links should not be in javascript or flash. Plain HTML is best for the search engines.
After that, SEO has a lot to do with what happens outside of your own site. That is, you need to get links to your site from other relevant sites. Ideally you want respected sites in your topic area to link to you, but you can also try web directories and things like that.
