Good HTML editors?
Can anyone suggest a good, free, XHTML/HTML/CSS editors? All I'm looking for is a text editor w/ syntax highlighting, tabbed windows, and doesn't only look for .txt files by default (like Notepad does). I don't want a WYSIWYG editor or anything, just a really simple text editor with a few features geared towards writing markup.

I recommend EditPad. Just have a look at the features to see why.
The free lite version comes without color-coding, but has tabbed windows and such.
If you want color-coding, then you'd have to buy pro version. I suggest you try the 30-day free pro version first. The price, IMO, is worth every cent.

I'm with Abhishek Reddy, the editpad pro is well worth the money, but the free version (I used for a few years) is awesome, havent found another program yet than can handle 300+ pages open at one time (in the same window) without any problems. mind you since I know a lil server side now I dont need to have that many pages open, but the find and replace is still used often.

I've used EditPad for years. I bought the pro version too. I've not found a better ASCII editor. (or hex editor, hehe)

I'm a homesite fan as well. My favourite feature is customizable keyboard shortcuts for common tags.

yea..i would have to agree with îþÐ....1stPage is what i use...it colors the different tags, depending on what it is. it also has a built in library of javascripts...i've been using it for a while now...its much better than notepad! lol

Seriously, though. There are tons of good editors out there. I think the best thing to do is to try a bunch and see which one you like best. I'm sure we all have our own definition of "must have" features.
If you're looking for something simple you may want to try TextPad or Ultra Edit... NoteTab Light is another one that comes to mind. Those ones might be the way to go if you're not looking for something overly feature-heavy like Homesite and 1stPage.
