FTP Program anyone?
I have been using a cracked version of CuteFTP and for some reason does not work anymore.
Can anyone refer me to a good FTP program that is free and does not come with a trial period?
One that can CHMOD and similar to CuteFTP would be great.

Well, you get what you pay for. Why not invest in a solid ftp client? They are not expensive, and often the professional versions come with a series of free upgrades.

I thought that CuteFTP was free. I've never used it myself but that was my understanding. Does WS_FTP still have a free LE version? Frankly, WS_FTP Pro is definitely worth the investment for its Windows Explorer integration feature.

One of the best FTP clients I've used and am still using is FlashFXP (http://www.flashfxp.com/). Highly recommended by me.

I have been using WS_FTP LE since 1998. It is free.
You can also download a trail of WS_FTP Pro which is the paid version.

As DM said, WS FTP LE is the best free one. It has enough features for most.

ah, but you should check out AceFTP if you still are undecided...visicommedia.com/aceftp
there is a pro and free version...the free just has a small ad in the right hand corner, similar to the free version of the P2P software Bearshare. chmod, dl, ul, edit, change file types (on the server side), all the normal stuff for FTP

I gotta say... in my opinion SmartFTP (http://www.smartftp.com) is the best! I've used a lot of FTP clients in my time and this is my favorite.
Its got everything an FTP client needs, its simple (works differently to cute as it has floating windows), but it's still briliant! you can even do server to server FTP and have multiple sessions running without opening another instance of the program!
oh yeah... its completly free as well!

click ftp is also free and very good.. .it is what I use.
