ftp problems
Hi! im new to this forum and this will be my first post!
Im working on linking to songs on my website so that they play when you click on them. Ive got all the code figured out, but when you click on the song, it opens in winamp, buffers, and then plays for about five seconds before rebuffering the entire song... And this happens over and over again... you end up hearing the song in five second increments between rebuffering.....anyone know why this is happening?? thanks in advance.

Probably because your internet connection isn't fast enough to stream the audio.

not quite sure if thats it since im on a T1 connection. I even restarted my computer just in case resources were low, but got the same result.

hmmm yeah shouldn't be that reason then, maybe the server you uploaded it to is either too busy or to slow? It's definitely a speed issue i'd say.

Winamp and buffering.. then its got to be a connection issue as DaveyBoy pointed it out. The server you are uploading must be very slow/busy and must be serving the song at a very low speed. This causes winamp to play the song and then redownload the next segment and caching it before it proceeds.

An ftp program is for transfering files from one computer to another (usually from your own computer to an offsite host). It's only good in that it makes transfers faster than through http (through the browser).
AOL is an ISP and a host. Most hosts with good speeds you need to pay for.
Dialup is not normally fast enough to listen to streaming media.

heh, depending on what else is happening, a LAN connection can be just as bad.
