Does anyone know of a free flash editor, preferably for mac, but can be for windows. Would like to have a WYSIWYG interface, but not necessary.

There are no free alternatives to Macromedia Flash..it is macromedia's format. However there is swish, which is an alternative..but still not free. Think u can download a free trial from their website.

Has Swish expanded a lot in recent years? The last time I saw it mainly did text effects. Which it could do better than Flash could. But it didn't have good drawing tools or scritping or any advanced features at all.

I guess I'll have to look it up:)

You can create flash dynamically using php.

There are two options, MING which is an open source libary or PHP/libswf

Apparently MING is the reccomended way of doing it.

You did say a WYSIWYG interface is not neccessary... Wink But... it is free (even if you have to install a webserver and php on your machine to do it!).

I looked up Swish, and it's not free. After about 30 minutes, I did this for a movie I'm working on: http://www.freewebs.com/basskickin/ProjectHax.html

You can download a trial version of SWiSH Lite which doesn't have any expire dates. Unfortunately you have to pay a small price before you can upload it and preview it correctly on the Internet.
It's text effects are very powerful and it also has image effects and sound can be incorporated into the movies.
