We're looking at Pun BB and Vanilla. Both are open source and standards compliant (as far as we can tell).

phpBB is the most popular free/open source solution, although they have had some security problems lately.

You may try SEO-Board, which I have installed it here and works very fast. You may also consider phpbb

I will recommend phpBB forum software. I personally like the fit and finish of that forums which use this software. It will be easy for you to get help on it as this is very popular one and commonly used.

I would disagree. Personally I think Vanilla is far superior to PHPBB, mostly because it's not bloated and full of crap. Wink

One of the great things about phpBB is the vast choice of add-ons and modifications I can install to satisfy my picky forumers. I like the fact that phpBB allows me to have a scalable forum.
