Foreign Translations

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to get a few opinions on the options available and any recommendations for translating sites into foreign languages. I have a WordPress site of about 12 pages which will need translating into 6 different languages.

I know one option would be to use Google's translator links on my site.

Another option would be to replicate the site each time in a different language - say in subdomains. What would be the ramifications of this from a point of view of SEO?

Any other thoughts???

Thank you for your kind words of wisdom. Your thorough comments into this matter are not only invaluable but insightful.

Admin, could we have a 'Spam' or 'Report' button to alert moderators to blatant spammers?

Use a Translator!

Serpico,

Google translate results in horrible translations. The sentences are barely legible and almost always grammatically incorrect ( I have only used it for French and Spanish so I cannot speak to the other languages).
The time required to proofread and correct the mumbo jumbo that you receive from Google T is just too much.

Getting a translator is your best bet, but it may turn out to be pretty expensive. The alternative though is inferior quality content.

Check out some of the freelance sites and browse the translation section to get a good idea of price. This will let you know more or less what you are looking at in terms of spending

Hope this helps
