Firewall blocking all access :(
Hey guys, i know this must have been asked a thousand times before but i haven't found a satisfactory answer to date so i thought of here
My college's ability to go on only 10% of any websites is bad enough, but now even MY site that i set up myself from scratch is blocked, it doesn't state why (sometimes it says this is an online games site etc). If i set it up so that they think it's an educational site, it won't be blocked...no way do they have to crawl the web and humanly examine every site, it has to be something in the site's code or settings....what's also annoying me is that even accessing directorys where my files are kept through http is blocked too! It works on some other sites...
Anyways i hope you guys can help me,
Thanks
T3Roar

Do you use meta tags? if so, do you use common words like sex, casino, money, free ... (words that could be blocked), also in your page titles ...

Nah i dunno how to use them, i should set them up but i have so many pages that it'll take too long to edit the html for every single one to put it in
I think it's because my meta tags are empty that it doesn't state why it's being blocked...I'll put education on them when i figure out how to set them up...

I know when I was in school a couple of years ago, you could just email them and they would check out the site and unblock it if it's fine. Or are you looking for ways to keep sites from automatically being blocked?

Nah just mine, i don't think they'll see a point in blocking OR unblocking mine and they have no email address on the "blocked" page
I just want to find a way around it...

I would guess that they use a crawler, so if you set up a meta tag for their robot to read that had contents like "Edgar Allen Pow, Education, Invention..." it would get put onto the safe list.

In my school if you visit a site to much it decides to crawl it if its ofensive or anything then it stops you looking at it.
even google is blocked in my school.
