Favicon or not...
Hi guys and gals,
Just a quicky please.
I'm trying to make a favicon work on my site but for some reasons it works in IE, Opera and Safari but doesnt appear in Firefox.
The code i used is:
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://vladmihalache.com/favicon.ico">
Is there known issues with favicons and firefox?
Does anyone know of any way to solve this little dilema?
Thanks a bunch

The code looks correct. Try clearing your cache in Firefox. It doesn't look for the favicon every time a page is loaded.

Hi vlad,
I have had cache problems with IE and not displaying favicons, but not with Ffox - have you tried emptying the cache and/or restarting Ffox?
You need to enclose the code posted here inside code tags (you can use the toolbar at the top of the textbox)
is it an animated favicon? they don't work in all browsers, but I think they work in Ffox as well..
is the dimension 16x16 px? (I think 32x32 is ok too)

Just Load your Page in FF and Press "Ctrl+Shift+R"... If it doesn't work, it will the next time...

Sometimes I've had problems when the file wasn't created as proper .ico file. It might help to run it through a dedicated icon creation program.

I tried Ctrl,Alt,F5 yesturday which i believe reloads without using the cache and i still didnt work but i went on my site today to try again and sure enough it worked.
I guess there was just a small delay of some sort.
Anyways thanks for your help everyone. I'll know next time to be abit more patient.

Actually reload cache for IE it's Ctrl+F5 and for FF Ctrl+Shift+R
Reload/refresh for IE is simply F5 and for FF Ctrl+R

Don't you have to bookmark a site in Ie before the favicon will work?

That used to be the way it worked but not anymore. They should appear in the address bar for any site in most browsers and on the tab in Opera & Firefox.
