Do I need a "Weblog"

I think a weblog is the ideal piece of software for a new site I am working on but also a cross between a "directory creator" like that used at uk.yahoo.com.

I want to be able to list different categories and sub categories and have people post about them.

I want you to have to register and provide a phone number in the UK so we can check. I also want the option of approving each message before it goes live.

I know of http://www.gossamer-threads.com and this is similar but I really am not in the position to pay! (same old story)

So, does anyone have any personal recommendation? I have found some on various free script sites but would like a personal recommendation.

If anyone has written their own and would like to "give" it to me for a share of advertising or other revenue then let me know.

Thanks

For pete's sake, there are lots of free blogging software applications available. Moveable Type, PMachine free, Blogger. As for different categories, for someone with no money, you must have lots of time and I'm sure you can figure out how to make them work for categories (hint: multiple installations).

Drupal. If you have time to make multiple installs, you definitely have time to learn Drupal's taxonomy feature. Smiling
