Databases, forms on website

I signed up with a webhost to learn how things work on the server-side of things. I was hoping to learn how to create forms and access my Access database. I have no idea what I'm doing!! I thought it would be straight forward and easy to do. I bought myself a PERL web development book after discovering formmail.pl but then realized I should be trying to create ASP pages. However, I don't know how to set things up on the server. There is a cgi-bin and ASP client folder. Where does one find these things out? The web-host has limited support and suggested I contact a web designer. I would like to learn how to do this myself. Any suggestions on which direction to go to learn how to set up a website with databases and forms? Thanks for any help!

If it has to access an Access (arf arf) database then I expect you'll have to use ASP, although I would wholeheartedly discourage you from using Access as a database server it's fine for very small applications but will fall-over as soon as you get more than about 10 concurrent users.

You need to research the subject to make more informed choices about your server-side activities. There is however nothing easy about the project you're embarking on, many of us have taken years to get where we are and do not pretend to know everything about the subject! Laughing out loud
