Daily visitor...
I really had no idea which forum to stick this in...
I've just discovered something rather odd in my site logs. Every day this month, the same IP has accessed one of my site's sub-pages (always the same one) at almost precisely a 24 hour interval (give or take an hour). Curious, I dug back in my logs and this has been going on for several months - as far back as I checked. The same IP, the same html page. The IP is that of a large US cable provider so isn't much of a clue.
They are not linking to any graphics and they are not, best I can tell, trying to access or run anything else - just this one html page hit every 24 hours:
64.156.198.76 - - [09/Oct/2003:16:18:50 -0400] "GET /portfolio_b.html HTTP/1.1" 200 16855 "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; Q312463)"
I can't identify any hint of malicious intent here but it has me pretty curious. Once a day at fairly clockwork-like intervals leads me to believe that it is some sort of automated process but why?
Any ideas?
taff, the curious one.

As it's your portfolio page, I'd guess someone is looking for new content, or systematically visting all your clients, lol.
I'd suggest putting those links into a exit script so you can track who's visiting them, and capture the visitor information on that page using sessions, see what comes of it.

This is got to be an automated process. Every 24 hours, every day this year (yep, I went back that far, previous year's logs are archived but I may get that curious yet!)
This is something I've wanted to do for quite a while regardless but am not sure which way to go on it. I think I even got a thread started on it here somewhere and then my massive attention span was diverted elsewhere.

Isn't this just some sort of a spider fr the cable company ? I get visits from quite a few of them ( not with that regularity though )

Just an idea....It not one of those companys who look through you coding every 24 hours so see if there is any errors then reports back if there is????
I had it happen to me, even though i had not signed up for anything.
