Hi All,

I am looking at puting a forum on my site and I am just wondering what the best software is? I have looked at vBulletin.com (which this forum is using) It seems to be the best one that I have seen and used.

I like to hear what other people have to say.

ps...I am not afraid of spending a little money.

You have 2 options. Go Opensource, or if you are going to pay money, then VB is the best option you've got Smiling

If you can consider a opensource software, then check out phpbb.com

Thx.

Another good open source forum is invisionboard http://www.invisionboard.com, but if you're willing to pay up then go with vb, my site uses vb it has many good features.

I think InvisionBoard is a misconception, they are not open source! The make you agree to a non GPL liceance when you get it. It is still free, but unlike phpBB, modification, enhancement, etc are not as supported by the creators because they dont want people hacking their software....but I guess if they were smart they would use a binary encrypter like I have seen a few good scripts do.

I would vote on vBulletin being the best as far as features, stability hacks, and community support go even if it isn't free Smiling

I'm gladly make a forum for you (for free if you want).

If you can host PHP or ASP (preferebly PHP) on your site you could have a forum that could look like your site with your images etc.

See what you think,

I have tried VB before but do not think that it is worth the money you have to pay compared to PHPBB. You can always add hacks to the phpbb forum and improve it, that is what I have done and I am chuffed with it. The VB isnt worth the extra money in my opinion.
