Affiliate tracking software??????

I am fairly new to the webmaster world and am having a little trouble finding something. I would like to include an affiliate program in my site just to see if I can get oone going but do not want to pay for the software to do it just in case it bombs. I can't afford a $300 test but need longer than a 30 day trial run to see how things will work out. Does anybody know how I would go about giving people who sign up for my affiliate program their own unique URL with affiliate Id attached so I will know where my sales came from in case it does work out? Is there free software that I can use to create unique URL's? How would I go about doing this? Simple terms are best since I am not too overwhelmingly knowlegeable about all of the technical terms. Remember I am pretty new (not stupid ...just not exactly familiar with all the technical terms) LOL Thanks

Aye, there are tons of FREE affiliate tracking scripts on the web!!! However, if you plan your affiliates to have banners, I would strongly sugggest phpBanners. Anyway, do a search at HotScripts for free scripts!!!
