Access Logs and PDA Usage
Do the access logs collect information these days regarding PDA web access? All the analysis tools I've looked at (four or five different free products), have a browser-type breakdown and a pie slice of data they call "Other" which I assume is where the PDA data are. I'm in the early planning stages of a major revamp and would like to take this data into consideration as I develop the look and feel.

I think so. If your stats package is gathering thorough OS and browser stats then it should come up under there. I'll check the site I maintain at work tomorrow to make sure. I think I remember seeing mobile operating systems in there (numbers were very low).

Thanks, Megan, I'd be interested to hear what you're getting.

We are using AW Stats to track and although nothing shows up under the regular browser > versions and operating systems > versions list, they do show up under "unknown". This could change I guess if there was more traffic from these devices.
So under browsers I see things like:
BlackBerry8700/4.2.0_Profile/MIDP-2.0_Configuration/CLDC-1.1_VendorID/107
BlackBerry7290/4.1.0_Profile/MIDP-2.0_Configuration/CLDC-1.1_VendorID/1
BlackBerry8700/4.2.1_Profile/MIDP-2.0_Configuration/CLDC-1.1_VendorID/1
(This is a localized site and a lot of people around here use Blackberries because first of all their offices are just down the street, and they have a special deal with the University so some people are trying out a new plan).
Under Operating systems I see some of the same blackberries but also this:
Opera/8.01_(J2ME/MIDP;_Opera_Mini/3.0.6636/1630;_en;_U;_ssr)
Under my regular browser stats Opera mini is probably included with regular Opera which isn't broken down into versions because usage is very low (Sigh, how sad... )
