Simple cgiemail form Spammed hard! How do I get around that?
Hi,
I recently created a simple cgiemail form at http://printnetinc.com/checkout/business_form.html
About a week after it went online it's been attracting tons of spam. I was told to put the form where the spambots can't reach it, but where would that be?
I believe cgiemail only works in the cgi folder - the post action points here -> http://printnetinc.com/cgi-bin/cgiemail/checkout/formtemplate.txt
So does that mean I should put this file (the form itself) -> http://printnetinc.com/checkout/business_form.html somewhere where the spambots can't reach, and if so, where would that be?
What i don't understand is, if the spambots can't reach it, how can the user?
Thanks!

Hey Nick,
Unless the form is password-protected (and sometimes even if it is) it will be spammed.
I suggest that you add captcha authentication - ReCaptcha is a popular method.
You might also consider Mollom, developed by Dries Buytaert (who developed Drupal)
Finally, if you do not want to add this type of active authentication, I have had limited success with placing a "listener" on the submit button, to check if a mouse is over it when the form is submitted - but this does not block all spams.
