Shopping Cart Service - Which is best?
I utlized dropshipping and have 3 websites. I use an HTML based shopping cart which is very limited.
My goal is to have 20-30 dropshipping sites up and running so I need to master shopping carts. Is there any that stand out amongst the pack?
Is there a service you would recommend given my goals?

Magento seems to be getting popular. OSCommerce is another popular one, but I don't like it because the code is horrendous and not very well supported anymore.

Drupal (I always recommend this!) has an excellent multi-site capability, which allows you to run multiple sites from the same installation.
There are two shopping carts to choose from: Ubercart and ECommerce. You should try out both of those to see which one you like best.
You'll need a Linux host with PHP and MySQL to run a Drupal site.

It runs in a WAMP environment, too...not like I recommend ever using a Windows server

I use Drupal for ecommerce on several sites.
Ubercart is awesome and totally configurable, Ecommerce is quick and easy.
There are also modules to include Zen cart and a few others.
You should do some reading/research, you can search on the Drupal site for specific features, maybe you can start here

So whats the learning curve on this stuff. it sounds EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Basically...I just use one of their templates and then upload it to my hosting server. I use Lunar Pages...which has a my SQL database and I believe uses linux.
Can someone kinda walk me through the process of creating an E-Com site using Drupal.

Hi,
I have the same question and didn't want to repeat a post but i am looking for something more specific.
I have an OsCommerce/Cre based cart at the moment that i have spend alot of money improving but still seems useless after all with it's checkout abilities and customer service management.
Looking for one that has:
1. 1 page checkout.
2. Customer can obtain RMA by himself.
3. Customer can download a shipping label for his RMA.
4. Has many of the oscommerce contribution with less mess.
5. Navigation user friendly.
6. SEO friendly.
7. Handle 1000's of items at ease.
8. Handle many item Contributions with variable weight and etc'
9. Have integration to or programs supporting financial software such as QB.
11. Supporting multiple sites inventory.
10. and etc', and etc'
Any help would be appreciated.

Well, that all depends on what you want to do. If you keep it simple, the learning curve will be shallow. My advice is to start out with a very simple installation, with no customisation; make it easy on yourself. Then learn how to do clever stuff when you've already mastered the basics.
That's a little too difficult for a forum post. Might be a good subject for a future article though.
The first thing you should do is set up a server (even if it's under Windows on your local computer), then learn how to install Drupal. There are instuctions available, on the Drupal site. And if you get stuck on anything specific, ask here or check out the support options from the Drupal community.

Magento are Prestashop are both good shopping cart software which are both quite new so you don't get the boltons that you have with oscommerce or cubecart, but if you can live without some of the features they are solid platforms that ware worth having a look at and will only improve with future developments.

Totally agree as to Magento - though it's quite new. And i would also mention Zen Cart as one of the options. It has been on the market for longer period of time and is worth to use.
In case you need a hand switching from one shopping cart to different one try web service cart2cart. It will trasfer all your data automatically.
