Hi all.

I'm not a tech person by any means. I have a couple guys developing a web based application that is an advertisement delivery system which collects data from the advertisements and places in a database.

We're looking for hosting company's now, based on the recommendations of the developer (who is out of the country so not familiar with US company's) he said we should go with: hosting provider with LINUX, Apache, php5 and mysql databse.

Do any of you have a recommendation for a company that has this? Are they pretty standard offerings of any host company? I am looking for a dedicated server.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Those are pretty standard requirements, try to get MySQL5 as well if you can. Are you looking for companies in the US specifically? Our partner site has reviews of quite a few hosts: http://www.webhostingunleashed.com/ They're not paying any money to be our partner either, we just point people towards because they provide a useful, related service. Also because we get asked this sort of hosting question all the time!

I know you didn't ask this, but have you thought of using an open source ads system? OpenAds will probably do as much as any system you're building in-house. Then all that's left to do is integrate it with some billing system. You could get the whole lot for free using Drupal, its Advertisment and ECommerce modules.

Just a thought. Smiling
