Joomla rejects specific text in Article?
I have a recent installation of Joomla 1.5x with TinyMCE enabled as the editor.
When I try to insert this text in the Article:
Funding of projects and the work undertaken comes from individual contributors, businesses and other organisations. It is our role is to ensure these funds are effectively utilised to create brighter futures for children in need.
I get a 403 forbidden error:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /administrator/index.php on this server.
for url "administrator/index.php" - but if I hit enter in the address bar on that url, the page loads ok, but the article is not saved.
I tried Save and Apply - both generate the same error. I am able to save the Article without the offending text.
It is specifically that text that triggers the error, I have tried typing it in instead of pasting, the error still happens.
What gives?
[note] I do not need advice on how Drupal is superior to Joomla - I recommended Drupal, client went with Joomla, it is volunteer work for a non-profit start-up.

Try adding this to your .htaccess:
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off

Tried that:
########## Attempt to solve 'Global Configuration' save issue, FTP layer issue, Media Upload issue
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
########## End - Attempt to solve 'Global Configuration' save issue, FTP layer issue, Media Upload issue
It occurred to me, since it is a long post, that the section which I am trying to add may push it over the limit. I have viewed the limit setting, think it's 1000 or something like that - but soesn't Joomla just trim the first part as a teaser like Drupal?
I have also noticed
WYSIWYG Editor: Editor - No Editor
in "Relevant PHP Settings" although TinyMCE is set as the editor.JeevesBond posted this at 03:36 — 11th November 2008.

Hmmm, as a test, maybe you could try setting the permissions on the file to 777? The problem could be that PHP is being run through CGI, using a different owner to Apache.

not sure which file you are referencing?
I set perms on .htaccess to 777 but still getting the error.
Also, I don't think it is a character count issue, I have deleted other parts of the Article to compensate, but it won't pass either.
It appears to be this text.
I have traced the exact problem: the word "from" (with slight correction from original text)
I replaced "comes from" with "is provided by" and it passed.

Thanks for yout tip. I was having the same problem, some parts of the text I was trying to publish were blocking the connection.
I looked for the "banned" word in my text and found out that it was "freewebs"
I replaced freewebs with freawebs and the post was correctly uploaded.

I meant set the permissions of administrator/index.php However, after your last post, it doesn't sound like that will help.
It certainly sounds like your hosts have mod_security installed, or some other kind of application firewall.
Can you find what modules Apache is using? Maybe try raising a support ticket with the hosts?

why would the word "from" in the body of an Article create a problem? that's all it was!

If you install a different CMS (not Joomla) and tried to submit the same article, it would tell you if the problem is with Joomla, or something else like mod_security.

Joomla was a real nightmare for me... I admit the idea of having a cms seemed like a good idea for the sake of saving time and getting more done. However, since I couldn't get it to run right, I went right back to making to my own pages and creating my own databases. So, it turned out being a complete waste of time.
I'm glad you got it to work... But remember, the only way to ensure you get exactly what you want is to create it yourself.

Hi Duke,
You mentioned on another thread that you could not get a CMS to work, so you build your own...
Although I would recommend Drupal over Joomla, do not "turn" your back on using an existing CMS!
If you need some help getting started, feel free to PM me

Hi decibel,
You are quite right. Everything happens for a reason. After some reasearch, I have strong indications that the reason CMS's don't work for me is becuase alot of stuff I do isn't fully compatible with them.
I buy PHP scripts and high quality templates and I pay people to set things up for me that are out of my league. So, I don't need a CMS.
Currently, I'm having to redo a most prized website because Godaddy mixed up the Databses. I'm going to be moving to a dedicated server to redo the setup, but I have all the content backed up.
If you wish, I'll PM you the URL of the site later after I move to the new host and everything's back up.

In my experience, Drupal is highly configurable and malleable. I have used it for nonprofit orgs, ecommerce, video sharing, events promotion, ad agency lead tracking, Section 508 accessible equipment procurement, various types of community, even porno clips a la carte
I've never heard of that kind of problem at GoDaddy, although I do not like GD in general.
StartLogic changed the pw on one of my dbs - but it was not important, and I was already in the process of abandoning them
Sure, feel free to PM me.

My before-mentioned website is back up and running... If you visit it, you might get a better idea why I don't use CMS's.
Here's the link:

Duke,
Using a CMS is not an excuse for design or function problems... a good CMS separates content from presentation. A good developer starts with the logic, designs the architecture, tweaks the UI and navigation, and finally, dresses it pretty.
There are many case studies of excellent Drupal sites - some heavy-hitters like Sony Music and MTV-UK
What the heck is "TopMediaScript" anyway? It's not even listed at OpenSourceCMS
BTW - posting a link to a site as an example, or with some item of interest, is not spamming or advertising - and your example is really exemplar of either 1) a lousy CMS or 2) a failure to master it.
I have spent the last two days creating a custom admin section to add news blurbs with uploaded images, teasers, etc to a PHP site with no central admin, it's a nightmare... somebody thought it was a good idea to hack Mambo at some point and strip the admin - jeeesh!
Don't give up!

on the Joomla! forums someone suggested adding this to .htaccess
<IfModule mod_security.c>
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>
does that open a big security hole?

Hello Duke Nukem, I visit the link you posted and it takes very long to load. And the page is cluttered in Firefox 3 and Google chrome.
